Desk Adjuster

JOB SUMMARY/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT:

The Desk Adjuster is responsible for supporting insurance claims activity and to assist in the resolution of all types of claim related complaints and inquiries.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/ ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Adhere to all PCS guidelines and as well as insurance client’s guidelines concerning, but not limited to the following: work conduct, customer service, policy, claims process, estimate writing, and claim closures as they relate to given claim assignment. This will insure PCS’ working relationship with our client(s) as well as the adjuster’s working relationship with us.

Provide quality customer service to all assigned, insured claimants throughout the claims process to ensure timely contact with the insured.

Answer questions as they arise from a hot line number.  To include documenting/logging calls and report call volume to management.

Review open/closed claims

Update Human Resources and deployment staff concerning current experience, licenses gained/renewed, certifications earned, and any other pertinent contact information. This will help PCS maintain a current and accurate view of our adjuster base and the skill set it offers.

Perform related responsibilities as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge

Comprehensive knowledge of property claims practices.

Knowledge of PCS client specific policies and guidelines.

Basic knowledge of construction and repair techniques, including identification of materials and damage recognition.

Basic knowledge and understanding of the various estimating programs used in the industry.

Skills

Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Excellent time management skills and must be detail oriented.

Must have proficient computer skills to function in house software system, Xactimate, Microsoft Office Products and/or other estimating programs for evaluating and determining scope and repair costs.

Professional and pleasant phone manners.


Collaborations

Collaborate with clients, adjusters, and any other Pacesetter department/representative with handling of claims issues and/or personnel issues related to storm activities.

Experience

Three to five years of experience in the Insurance industry preferably in the area of claims handling.

Experience handling disputed claims.


Education Required

Prefer College degree from an accredited University or technical school or five years of hands on experience in the insurance and claims service industry.

Pre-licensing/state occupational license testing for at least home/designated home state.


Certifications

Maintain training and certifications necessary and/or required by the various clients.

SPECIAL JOB DIMENSIONS

Ability to work long hours and/or weekends if needed.

A motor vehicle records search will be conducted on an individual’s driving history when driving is an essential requirement of the position and a credit history search will be conducted for positions that involve management of funds and/or handling of cash or credit cards.
